Not Great News

This is a really hard post to write, which is why it’s taken me so long to write it.

On July 1, I went in for the next followup CT scan.

The cancer is back, with a vengeance.

On this scan, the tiny little nodules I had have grown. A lot. The one that was 1 mm is now 5 mm. The one that was 3 mm is now 15 mm. Two of them are now 16 mm, and the remaining one that I had is 12 mm. And I have 4 new ones between 2 mm and 4 mm.

They are in both lungs.

So I’m back in chemo. My first session was today. I can’t have the same drugs I had before, because of the lifetime limit on them. So today I got my first dose of Gemcitabine (Gemzar). Next Monday I go in again, and get both that one and Docetaxel (Taxotere). Then I have a week off.

This patten repeats again, and then I have another CT Scan, so we can see if it’s working.

The side effects are pretty much what they were before. (And I just got my hair *back*!)

On the good side, I was starting to feel really good again, so I’m going into this from a fairly healthy starting point.

I’m not giving up. I still intend to beat this.

But that’s where we are now.

I’ll let you know the results of the next scan when we have them. It’ll be seven or eight weeks.

Thanks again for all your support.

Here we go again.

  1. Robin, I’m so sorry that this is happening. I hope that the cancer remains chemotherapy sensitive and shrinks back down faster than ever. I’m sending you all the healing light and love I can manage. May your body fight this like a dragon — and may the cancer wither like Thread in her flame!

  2. I’ll share the supplement that has kept me going for all these years, through liver mets and untold rounds of chemo and Y-90. The only time I ever felt like a cancer patient was when I’d been off them a few weeks, too busy to get the next bottle. (Won’t make that mistake again!)

It’s called CuraMed, from Dr Terry’s Naturally, available at health food stores and Amazon. It’s a concentrated turmeric (anti-inflammatory). The arthritis dose is 375mg, 750+ for cancer. I ramped it up until my skin smelled like curry, then backed off a little bit. You can pick up a bottle of 375s and take them once then twice a day to see how they work for you. It’s not an either/or — it’s an adjunct treatment, that doesn’t interfere with chemo doing its job, just keeps you feeling closer to human. Hope this helps.

    1. Thanks, Dana. I’ll have to ask my oncologist, but I don’t imagine he’ll tell me not to use it. They just want to keep track of every single thing I take. 😀

  3. I pray you have a full & complete recovery. With so many people who love you supporting you, YOU WILL BEAT THIS!

  4. Hello Robin,

I am sorry to hear this, as well. I will send prayers ? Just also want you to know that I received your brand new Tarot deck, a few months ago, and the deck is spendidly made and it provides me and my clients with very erudite answers when properly focused. Making (and designing) a tarot deck is no small achievement and I thank you for this legacy, on behalf of all Canadian astrologers.

      1. Not as far as I know! I only did the one deck. My contract with Llewellyn won’t let me do another, even if I had the strength and energy to do one.

  5. Know that I am Strega Stomping on your behalf. This will be done daily, unless you request otherwise. Use this energy as you will. Much live, many blessings.

  6. Hi Robin

I feel like I know you a little bit as your beautiful Tarot deck is a regular go to deck for me. And your book is easily one of my favourite books (which is saying something for me – I’m a real bibliophile!

The app is pretty much my constant companion and has helped me negotiate my way through this pandemic.

Your work gives so much to so many. May the law of karma return those gifts to you now Robin. Multiplied.

I have introduced a number of people to your work over the years and I will continue to.

Personally I’m delighted to have connected with you so that I’m able to thank you for positively impacting on my life.

I’m sending , hugs and every good wish for you and to you.

    Be well.

    Mary
