Render of Pop Bottle.

Pop Bottle Model

A number of years ago, I needed a regular thin plastic pop bottle, and I couldn't figure out how to make one. (I couldn't find a decent model of one, either, so I just gave up on it.) That was before I had LightWave, of course. Now I can make one easily, so I did, and here it is!

I didn't want to run into any copyright or trademark issues, so I put my own label on it. The brand is Old Fashioned Soda Fountain®, a wholly owned subsidiary of Robin Wood Ent., and the flavor is Cherry Phosphate (which just happens to be my favorite soda pop flavor, and isn't one you can buy bottled, as far as I know.) It really is that remarkable red color.

There are UV maps for the bottle and bottle top, but the label is plain Cylindrical mapping, which should make it easier to replace it with your own flavor, in case Cherry Phosphate isn't your thing.

Just in case you feel the need to open the bottle, I have also included threads, which you can see by running your mouse over the bottle. They have their own material, which should make it easy to remove them if you don't want them. (No sense having polys that aren't going to be rendered.)

The model is available ready to go in LightWave .lwo format (4768 polys, including Air polys for the transparent surfaces.) You can also download it in Wavefront .obj format, either with mostly quads, including some non-planar polys for conversion into your program's equivalent of SubPatches or MetaNurbs (3560 polys), or with the non-planar polys tripled for programs such as Bryce (3723 polys).

The images are available as a separate download, so you don't have to grab them if you don't want them. If you want to use the Spherical Reflection image that I used above, it's also a separate download. You can grab it here.

As always, feel free to use any rendering of the model in work that is not for sale. I retain the copyright, and you may not sell or give away the mesh or the texture files. If you want to render the model in a picture or animation that you expect be paid for, please contact me for permission. Thank you.
